Getting Started
One Profession is a website that enables the science, technology and engineering communities to sharing, discussion and development. It wishes to support people at all stages of their career, including directors and those yet to get started. It does this by providing the following features:
- A discussion area, dedicated to you for discussing anything from current affairs through to tackling problems on the bench or best practice when managing people.
- A wiki, designed to enable you to store nuggets of information or whole articles so that others may benefit from your experience or add to it.
- Genesis, our personal and professional development application. It enables you to work alone, with your mentors or with your organisation to structure and record your development.
- Articles on hot topics from our engineers at One Profession and experts in the field.
- A news feed following the activities of our industries, communities and the site.
- A job listing facility, enabling you to search for a new challenge or post jobs from your enterprise.
Depending on what you are looking for, there will be a feature for you. Start by browsing the above sites, reading our articles or browsing the wiki. If you wish to develop your career, take a look at Genesis or search through the jobs listings. Perhaps an article has addressed the big question on your mind. If you can't find the question, or just fancy a good debate, then it's worth heading over to the discussion area and posting a topic there.
The key to what you get out of this site is that if you have something to contribute, it's well worth putting it in the wiki, or even submitting an article. Not only will you help the next people who have the same question, but you'll also be gaining yourself attention and a reputation.
